Moving Packing TipsEach and everything around the house require a decision when moving: are you going to take it with you, which means it needs packing, or you'll give it away for charity or recycling. Depending on the item, the packing is probably the most complex and time-consuming activity of the move. First of all, do not start packing before you have made the selections between the “good to go” and “to be left behind”. Then, you will need some basic materials such as cardboard boxes of different sizes, tape, a tape measure, bubble wrap or crumpled paper, a marker, and even canvas and all sorts of textile materials. The boxes or containers used for the move packing need to be suited to the kind of items you intend to store in them. Thus, you will have to get some thicker and a lot more resistant boxes for books, lighter ones for clothes and so on. In case you have kept the original packing materials of your electronics, moving them should be no trouble whatsoever: there will be Styrofoam and bubble wrap to protect the items against the possible shocks of the transportation. As you'll have to remove the cables, it is a good idea to tape them and even put some labels on them so as to know which goes where. The same thing holds valid for the screws, tape them to the object to which they belong so that the unpacking goes smoothly. Books are the heaviest to pack, and though the boxes may be large enough to adjust quite a number of volumes, keep in mind that somewhere around fifty pounds should prove enough for a thick cardboard box. Thus, not only will you avoid the difficulty to carry them to the truck, but you also prevent the possible breaking of the material during the transportation. Packing holds the key to unpacking; in order to simplify the arrangements at your new home, you'll need to rely on some organizing tricks that allow the quick item selection. Thus, you should label all boxes and even give them numbers to make them easy to put in the inventory. You should indicate the content, the room it will go to, as well as whether the content is fragile or not. Under certain circumstances you should also indicate whether the box is to be unloaded among the first or the last. You can search the Internet for some further move packing tips to help you go through the relocation period with as little stress as possible.
